2nd Annual Cpt Marvin’s Memorial Event!

Sunday, March 20th marked the 2nd annual Captain Marvin’s Memorial Splash & Dash Race. This event was founded and organized by Captain Marvin’s youngest son, Kendall Flash Ebanks, owner of FNSports.

The late, great Captain Marvin was one of the original founders of the world famous Stingray City Sandbar. He actively worked on the boats and out at sea until the impressive age of 91.  Race organizers felt it was important to remember and honour this amazing role model on an annual basis. The event recognizes the role that Captain Marvin played in Cayman’s history and celebrates his life and generous contributions to his family, friends and the community. In his memory, proceeds from the event to be donated to The Special Needs Foundation.

The Splash & Dash race started and ended at Public Beach with 118 people participating. The 800 meter swim and 2 mile run made for a fast and exciting race. The top competitors include:

Overall Male:

1st – Stuart Bray, 0:22:45

2nd – Luigi Aiello, 0:23:51

3rd – Michael Ford, 0:24:08

Overall Female

Special recognition goes to the youngest athlete to complete the full course, Caitlin Roney, who raced with her dad, Jon Roney by her side.

In addition to the swim & run race, there was also a 2 mile run/walk only category. This provided an opportunity for everyone, including children, to get involved.
