Andrea

Trainer

Andrea is a Canadian amateur female kick boxer. Her martial arts journey started in Victoria, British Columbia at the age of 20, when she joined an all-girls kickboxing club. After 10 years of fitness kickboxing and some coaching experience, she relocated to Calgary, Alberta where she found the art of MuayThai.

Once settled in Alberta, Andrea journeyed to Phuket, Thailand with her Canadian Team to experience intense MuayThai training from the experts themselves! This trip was life changing and Andrea chose to pursue her goal to be a personal trainer, coaching MuayThai Kickboxing as well as strength training.

Andrea’s first competition was in 2014 where she competed in a MuayThai Continuous Tournament, taking 1st place in the thaiboxing division. In 2016, Andrea won 1st place in her first amateur MuayThai Competition. In 2018, Andrea won 1st place by TKO in a full rules MuayThai Competition in Thailand. Her last time in the ring was in early 2019, competing in a smoker, in an inter-club tournament, resulting in a draw.

Over the years Andrea has trained at many traditional MuayThai gyms around the world! She has attended several seminars in Canada and the United States including workshops conducted by Duane (Bang) Ludwig and MuayThai Legend, Saenchai. She has also taken a couple further trips to Thailand to practice her craft.

Andrea has spent the last couple of years training under the highest ranking MuayThai teacher in Canada. Ajarn Yai Mike Miles, a 4 time professional world champion, has been an incredible mentor. In March, 2019, Mr. Miles awarded Andrea her 2nd degree Black Level in Muay Thai and also certified her as a Khru Kan.

Andrea is focused on expanding her knowledge as a coach and student. She is a self-disciplined athlete, always aspiring to be a healthy lifestyle leader to those around her. She understands that being a student of life is always a bit messy, full of successes and failures, but just like with anything, you only get better with practice. Andrea promises to inspire and motivate the The Performance Lab community in the Cayman Islands, creating a safe environment where we can grow as a team and as individuals.
